Crax - the robot

My elder son has a great passion of making his own robot.

He shows lots of interest in robotics ever since he attended a one month summer camp for learning about basics in robotics during his second grade summer holidays.

He is grade 4 now still his interest of making his own robot is increased more.

He got an assignment to write up about your wish when you grow up old.

He immediately wrote that he wish to make his own robot when he grow up and when I asked him to give it a name.

He got this name for his robot CRAX

Very cute name I was wondering what his robot could do. His first point was to get rid off cockroaches as my son is scared seeing them at home. So he want his robot to get rid all of them boldly.

Secondly he wanted his crax to help me in kitchen so that I can be free all day.

By seeing that I got reminded of our earlier discussion,

Every time during lunch time we have a discussion , that my little son needs ghee for each servings of rice that too he wants it immediately he don't like to wait till I serve food for my dh and elder. So I used to tell him need to make small machine so that it will pour you ghee for each servings. That time my elder will say don't worry ma I will make a robot so that you can be free.

I wondered how our talks create impact on kids thinking.

Am not telling just for praise but encouraging my son in whatever he do.

One day he will make his dream come true.

First day of his school-LKG

Today is the first day of his school.He is in LKG. Cannot beleive that days flying so fast and now he is going to school.

As it was the first day, school timing is for one hour and Later we can take him home. From tomorrow school timing is as usual that is from 9.00 to 12.15.

He cried little and soon he settled down with other kids. Parents were asked to wait in a hall as the school organised inaugural function for introducing IGCSE syllabus in their curriculum. The correspondent,principal and staffs addressed gathering. Especially correspondents talk was really a thought provoking one for all parents.

First day of his school was very colourful and we as parents wish him all success in his future endeavours.

My first air travel with my baby

Hi i would like to share my experience about my first air travel with my baby....From Chennai to Singapore(it was my second travel to Sg).

My baby was at three months.As i am going alone to abroad with my baby we reached airport earlier to avoid tensions in the last moment. Also the day before travel I was not well.I was suffering with fever,vomiting.So I took some tablets to avoid postponing my travel. (Also very eager to see my Hubby after long time :wink:)

My parents and in-laws accompanied me to the airport. "Thank god, visitors were allowed this time! God saved me by this, so that i gave my baby to them!"and went to check in my travel.

I went for scanning my luggage(3 Suitcases).Hand baggage was with me.After scanning i went to check in counter for getting boarding pass, also informed about Basket for keeping baby. Also I came to know that i can put extra 10kgs in my luggage (though my Hubby told, he gave only safe Number of Kg's) so i planned to put my hand baggage also with that. So i took out all my valuables and things necessary for my baby and transferred to my small bag and locked the hand baggage and i again went to scan this bag.Then i put it in my luggage with other bags.

By this i am saved from Carrying both luggage and baby together.

I felt relaxed and i proceeded to other formalities. I stayed in parental room in the airport in order to nurse my baby.
( :whistlewow Chennai Airport has a good maintained Parental Room!!!) My baby felt more comfortable and i was tension less. I was also able to rest myself for sometime since i was not well. We did not realize our time passed here so nicely.

After tat i got boarding announcement so i rushed to the respective gate for boarding inside the plane.I was given a baby basket for my baby. After take off, i made my baby sleep in the basket. He slept peacefully in that.

We don't have much to write While in travel! Both of us slept :)nicely, in between i fed my baby two to three times.Thank God ! he did not scream or do any mischief.

In few hours of time, we reached our destination(Changi Airport).I was so excited that am going to see my hubby after a long time.He was waiting outside eagerly to see both of us :).Due to bad health, i thought that i could go home soon and take rest.

I completed all formalities in the airport and came to luggage collection.As i was holding my baby in my hand i could not lift luggage, the person near me helped to take my bags one by one. I got three bags which i first checked in and i didn't get the last bag so i was waiting for more than an hour to get that. The person who helped me was also waiting patiently for my luggage.As time up, i thanked him and said i will manage myself.

Then i requested airport authority and gave my baby to my hubby who was waiting outside. I told him to wait for sometime and returned back to my search.

As i was so tensed i couldn't even smile at my hubby and also had no time to tell Wat is happening.

My baby was seeing nicely all lights in the airport, up to some time he helped me by not crying, and slept at hand after some time until i give to my hubby.

After some time, i was informed that all bags of my flight arrived and my bag was missing.:shock: I was very much upset since i kept all my original documents,baby dresses and toys inside tat.As that was my hand baggage before i kept all these items in that. In the last moment i took only valuables and left remaining as such.I dont know Wat to do.

I was taken to "SATS LOST AND FOUND" section in the airport to give complaint about my bag. I don't have any hope tat i will get my bag back. Yet, i went to give complaint. There i was asked about all these things listed below.

a) colour and model of my bag
b) about locking particulars (locked or unlocked),model and colour
of lock.
c) all other things inside bag(any eatables,valuable items,dress,
documents etc.,)
d) rough estimation of the items inside the bag (such as date,place
and cost of purchase- separate estimation for rupees and dollars)
e) Address and contact number in India and Singapore.

I become mad, :confused2:already tired, clock at 10.30pm, my kid & hubby waiting outside, could not recall all my history.

After i gave all these particulars i was given a complaint number. I was asked to check with the airport next day by telling my complaint number.(The airport authorities were kind enough until i gave all information's about my bag).

It was ten thirty when all these procedures were over.I came out of the airport and explained all Wat happened to my hubby. He comforted me :cool2:and told tat we will definitely get our bag. As i was not aware of this before, i had no hope about it.Then we got inside a cab to reach our home. On the way, i talked to both parents about my safe arrival. I was not able to tell my:cry: worries to them.Becoz, even small worries make our parents feel a lot. So i didn't tell them about this. We reached home by 11.30pm.

Next day morning, as soon as we got up we rang "Lost and Found" phone number at Changi Airport and we came to know that our bag was found and it was sent to our home in person we will get it in another half an hour . I was so happy for having got our bag back. Also so thankful to the wonderful Service rendered by Changi Airport Authorities.

Two Skys and Reddu SUN!!!!

Sukarman has started to observe many things day by day. He is a good learner cum analyser.

We used to go for walk every day. Somedays we go in evenings and somedays in morning. Often both times we go. So we used to question him by asking things arround us. Such as Name of our residing block and where we going and so on.

Today we asked him Wat is the colour of the sky. AS it was morning he replied white colour and also joined it with sun. Later we forgot about it. Next day night wen we went outside.we were asking some questions as where is moon and stars. That time he suddenly naratted the colour of sky is black now and moon and stars there. Also two skies are there white colour and black colour. We were wondering about his memory and analysing skill. We later explained only one sky there during day it will be white in colour and in night black as sun disappear. Hope he will understand it sooner.

So nowadays he started to hum some different music narrating sun. That is "Reddu SUN","Reddu sun" Then he makes some tik tik sound and goes by opening both hands on opposite sides and walks joyfully around our home. Wen he is in super duper mood he does this and it is so cute to watch him enjoying nature in his own way.

Aksharabhyasam (Writing Hari Om)

Today is Vijayadasami, We were planning to start writing activity (learning) for Sukarman from this auspicious day. So we dressed him up in our traditional wear and took him to the school(inside our block).

There we made him write "Hari OM" in grains(raw rice) with the help of his teacher. Later He wrote Hari Om in slate by holding his teachers hand in Tamil,English and Hindi. Then he got blessings from his teachers too!

Sukarman Puzzle Work

Sukarman has lots of interest in puzzle he does all puzzle activities in no time. He learnt all english alphabets,numbers,shapes,colours and animals through various puzzle activity.His teachers says that even in school he does the puzzle work very fastly.

Also he has won First prize for speed puzzle in his school today. He was given a certificate along with a pencil box. We are so happy that he learns all physical activities so quickly.

Sukarman Play School - Fancy dress competition

Fancy dress competition was announced in his school today on the event of the Teacher's day celebration. So their school teachers did inform us about the same previous week. As it was the first competition he is participating i thought he should be dressed up differently. So i discussed with my hubby and finalized a entirely different costume for him.

We bought a Commander dress for him!. But i was bit worried as he refuses to wear full hand shirts these days(he likes only half sleeved shirts). I didnt loose hope i showed him the dress and asked if he would like to wear it and see yesterday. He was quite happy by seeing stars in his shirt so we named the dress as "STAR DRESS".He agreed to wear the dress but after putting shirt he removed it in few min. So i decided not to force him.

Again today morning the same story happened. So i packed his dress to school. I thought if he sees other kids wearing different costumes he might also like to wear this costume. My idea worked out by seeing other kids he told that he wants to wear star dress. Finally he got dressed up. This is the photo of our Little commander.

As parents were also invited for the function i stayed with him. Later all kids were asked to tell their names and he did spell his name, started with "Hi" "My Name is Sukarman" "Bye"

Voila ! He won first prize in this competition and i was so happy to see my son getting his 1st ever prize outside Home environment. He was given a certificate along with a disney princess coin bank.

Sukarman Play School

I enquired the school inside our block for putting him in preschool today and I asked them for trial classes for two three days to see if my son likes to go there without hesitation.

He stayed there for one hour and i took him back to our home. After trial classes are over we admitted him in that school from the next few days. But when he started to go school, he refused what happened still we could not figure, but once go inside, he do the activities followed there.

Favourite activities of Sukarman preschool period - Part 1

Music:-

Sukarman is a great listener of music. He often sleeps with mp3 player by listening to his favourite songs when he is sleeping at slings at the age of 1. He used to touch the screen to see the light very often when he holds it. Also we use mobile ringtones when we go outside to make him engaged. Also we have downloaded his favourite songs separately and loaded in our mobile phones so that also it helps most of the times when he starts throwing tantrums during our outings.

Nowadays since he listen lot of tamil songs he has started to hum his own song in his own way.

Kitchen utensils and gadgets:-

He has many toys to play but he loves to play with kitchen utensils and gadgets :) . He imitates all what i do in my kitchen. So we bought him a Kitchen play set for him to play so that would be safer but he loves to play with cooker,idly pot,mixer,....so on. I have given him an dummy mixie to play with but he is so brilliant and shows me the wire to connect in the switch board."wink"

Going out:-

If we say to him we are going out. He is the first one to get ready. He immediately runs to his dress cabin and grabs two three sets and give us. Then next he don't run if we comb his hair during this time.."smile". Next he sits in a chair to wear his shoes. He also reminds us to wear our slippers.

Water:-

He has lots of attraction for it....He loves to play with water by pouring from one jar to another,While taking food this is his favourite activity so easily he eats what is given(not always). If i just say this is bathing time he runs to bathroom and he enjoys opening and closing of tap. Then He loves to watch rain.If he hears thunder he comes running to us by saying Iye,Iye....(idi in tamil) he just says first letter.

Swing:-

There is a swing for kids to play in the park near our home,He loves to swing in it. It is so tough for us to get him out of it even after spending more time there.

Balls and balloons:-

He is a great indoor football player.....and also a volley ball player too.....he kicks the ball to the extent he can.....also like a volley ball player he throws the ball to kitchen sink(will clean it and give him again he will do the same in no time)."wink"

He likes to hold the balloons as much as possible.Even if he is holding one in his hand he will look for the other ones(kids are of same nature) We have never returned to our home without balloons Whereever we go (to any malls/shopping places) he will get balloons.

Cars and Buses:-

All kids are easily attracted by the moving objects and so is he. He likes to watch the cars and buses for a long time sitting in the bus stop.Of course he lines up his toy cars, bus, vans and ride them all around our home. Since he sees there is gate at our block entrance which opens before vehicle activity, he asks us to do open a gate for his movement too, when he park all toy vehicles in a table or sofa. One more thing while we go for a walk in the evening he used to spell the alphabets and numbers written on the car and bikes number plate.

Switch Board:-

Even if it is in heights he climbs up in a chair to switch on fans.He switch on the night lamp even during the day time.

Bell Ringer:-

When ever we do pooja he rings bell until we complete the same. He is a perfect bell ringer.

Playhouse Disney Birthday Book

Suddenly i got an idea today.I would like to share about in detail with you all.

What is that?

Something interesting...... We used to watch birthday book on playhouse disney channel everyday which shows birthday babies of that month. So i thought why not send sukarman's photo to playhouse disney channel which is his favourite.

Believe me, His first favourite cartoon character is Pooh. Often i use the word pooh for naratting flower in tamil he cannot make out difference between both so i use malar.He loves seeing pooh bear. His favourite song is of course the title/theme song of "My friends tigger and pooh".

Second favourite is none other than "Mickey Mouse and his friends". The title song and the Hot dog song are his favourites. Especially he loves to dance for HOT DOG song. But still we could not record his cute steps while he dances for that song.......will try to do soon.Once we got an opportunity to see Mickey mouse and his friends on a show during christmas day celebrations in SG. We took a snap with mickey and friends on that show. My son was so excited to see Mickey and his friends.

Some other favourites are

Little einsteins(discovery by kids using music as main theme), Handy manny(manny with his talking tools) , Word world (u can see words live in this program definitely kids learn lot by this program), Dibo the gift dragon( cozy land adventures), Animal mechanicals(mechaner animals doing different tasks) , pocoyo (with his friends), Chugginton (time with traintastic chuggers) special agent oso(doing different tasks with three special steps).

Also Teletubbies "Eh-Oh" song

My son loves to listen all title song of the above program.Rest of the show is mine. What to do he is not allowing me to watch any tamil serials if i change channel he just tell me (by action) to change the channel.I feel this as the most safe channel for the kids......instead of watching those serials. He of course loves to listen to tamil serials title songs also but the content of the serials and words used may disturb him so am trying to avoid it for time being.

There are more cartoon channels for amusing kids. But i personally feel that Playhouse Disney is the Best one. Not becoz it is my son's favourite but also for the clarity and the informative programs shown which motivates kids in many ways.

Ok,Let me proceed with my idea........but how?

First, I googled playhouse birthday book and got this site where all informations are clearly given in the below link.

Just i clicked faq inside that site and got all instructions.One main information i got, my son's birthday is on feb 19th and today is Dec 22nd if i want to see him on birthday book i must send his photo before Dec31st.

Forthwith, i started my work. Second work is to search for sukarman's latest snaps to send good one.One more idea flashed in my mind why not dress him up and take a good snap now? So i dressed him in a new dress and took some good snaps with his favourite pooh balloon. Of course, all the snaps were good but his favourite smile was missing. Becoz that was not a casual one.........so i thought of sending a photo which we took before. I felt so sorry for disturbing my son but he enjoyed wearing new dress and playing with the balloon.

Photo selection is over........also reconfirmed with my hubby to proceed further.

Next step is to take print out of the photo. Searched for the photo printing paper and luckily got it. Then i connected printer cable and gave print. I was waiting for a long time but i didnt get print out still. Thought there is some problem with my printer but everything is correctly done but something is missing i felt. Suddenly this song came to my mind "IF you have a problem think think think....from my friends tigger and pooh".

Now u all will be clear how exactly am watching all these programs. OK finally after sometime i found i didnt push photo tray properly so printer could not take the photo paper inside.....oops i then fixed my printer and took the print out. But the print out was little different from the original look of my son.

Then i wrote all informations asked for at the back of my son's photo and put inside an envelope and affixed a stamp. Then we(me and my son) got ready to post it in the Post box near our Bus stop.Really a very long process.

But doing things differently(i think like that) gives more opportunity to learn new things(like selecting good photo,connecting printer, taking printouts and posting) as well.

Finally i posted his photo for Playhouse Disney Birthday Book. Just i have to wait for one more month to see the upshot.

SUKARMAN

After our marriage, we used to discuss that if I become pregnant and if it happened to be a girl then, we should name her differently like that and we found a name in advance. Then one day i was pregnant and we came to know that we are going to have a boy, from then we started to search name for our boy. :)

We wanted our son name to be unique among our community also which gives a good meaning.We wanted the name should be indianised not a modern one. So we decided to chose a name from an "EPIC Mahabharata".

Me and my hubby started making list of the names that we like the most.We started searching websites, and shortlisted lot of names.Then we also visited library to get Tamil lexicon (encyclopedia of Tamil literature) and got some more list of names. After long search we found a name that is "Sukarman".Also he told me about the meaning in detail, I also felt that was a good selection and we finalised the name before my son's arrival.

We also decided that we should not call him by any nick names because we believed that "EVERY Individuals name has a different power and that should not be decreased by calling them by nick names".
